A Dog's Guide to Training Your Human; Lesson 2

  Lesson 2

How to get food when you want it

Well those were some insulting comments from Riley! Also don’t listen to her, everything I said is totally true. So you know from my last story that if you look at what you want you’ll get it. Well not in this situation, humans don’t just give over food, that’s their favorite thing! (other than us pets!) So in my story try and pick up a few tips. Here it is:

“Chicken, I smell chicken. Beautiful Chicken.” Is all I could think about when they cooked the perfectly cooked chicken on the grill. It was super cold that evening but I didn’t care. I sat outside staring at the chicken and forming a plan in my head on how to get it. Finally Alfa picked up the chicken and brought it inside. I followed not far behind, wagging my tail. He squeezed some last minute lime juice on it and cut pieces to put on plates. Everybody sat down to eat while I sat there staring at my plain kibble. My first attempt; Begging. First I tried Mrs. Mommy but she said, “No Sasha, go eat your own food.” Next I tried Alfa, but he said, “Sasha! Stop begging!” Then I tried Victoria, she just stared at me and said, “Sasha look at the yummy kibble.” I got something out of it though, a yummy piece of bread. Ethan and Ava were the same, no one would give me any food. My next attempt; Stealth. Everyone just finished eating and are now sitting on the couch reading or watching TV. My plan was a go, first I snuck into the kitchen pretending that I would go eat kibble, then I jumped up and started eating some chicken. “SASHA!!” Alfa roared. I jumped down to see him staring at the half eaten (eaten by me) chicken. So it got intense so I’m gonna stop for now. The next night Ava got me some plain kibble and set it down for me to eat. Mrs. Mommy noticed I wasn’t eating it and I looked at her with sad eyes. Before I knew it three pieces of chicken were right in front of me, in my bowl! I gobbled it up and everybody (including me!) had a very nice dinner. Thanks for listening! I hope your owner learned another lesson! Now for some words from my sister(s).

Well… that was, um, a very interesting speech. You really got to learn a thing or two about humans. They gave you that food because you didn’t eat your kibble. They didn’t want you to starve! Oh my! I’m sorry, I forgot to introduce myself! I’m Penny from the design show Design Your Guinea. Please watch it if you haven't already. (Though I’m sure most have.) Anyways, Sasha, start writing things dogs want to learn. Well, gotta get back on stage, cages don’t design themselves! Adios!
